The Professional Fighters League (PFL) returns tonight (July 1, 2022) with its usual variety of Friday night action. The women’s welterweights and lightweights have the floor tonight, all of which leads to a main event between two-time tournament champion Kayla Harrison and 15-year veteran Kaitlin Young.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veteran Rory MacDonald takes on Sadibou Sy in the main event, former PFL champion Ray Cooper III takes on Bellator alum Brett Cooper one fight earlier, and another Former tournament champion Magomed Magomedkerimov opens the main card against late replacement Dilano Taylor.

PFL 6 ROUND BY ROUND COVERAGE
155 pounds: Kayla Harrison vs. Kaitlin Young
Round One: Harrison looks to attack early. A powerful double leg puts her up in lateral control a minute later. She lands punches as Young tries to work his way up. Half guard at two minutes. Drop right hands with a hook. Full rear mount and she keeps punching until the referee steps in.
Final Result: Harrison def. Young by TKO (punches)
170 lbs: Rory MacDonald vs. Sadibou Sy
Round One: MacDonald’s early single leg attempt. He tries to transition to double, settles for putting him on the fence. One minute inside. They separate. Sy delivers a quick kick to the head, then grabs again. MacDonald drops to the mat to try to get a better angle, still swimming in two minutes. Sy steps back, reverses himself. MacDonald knees him into the ghoulies with two minutes to go.
They are reset remotely in the center. Sy walks away from a combo and lands low kicks. MacDonald fires once more, once again repulsed. One minute to go. they split. Straight to Sy’s right, jabs behind him. Solid body kick from MacDonald in return. Short rights against the fence. Sy hits him with a counter just before he’s secured. 10-9 Sy.
Round two: Both try front kicks to start. MacDonald puts him on the fence once more. One minute. He continued to press Sy against the fence. Two minutes. More of the same. Sy tries to back up with two minutes to go.
Sy pushes him away. Head kick attempt. Lead directly from MacDonald in return. Su’s jab and hook, long uppercut narrowly misses. MacDonald to the body. One minute to go. MacDonald looks for another one-legged one. Back to grinding against the fence. 10-9 McDonald.
Round three: MacDonald presses on, lands a nice overhand right hand and shoots one more time. One minute inside. They separate. Sy’s body kick attempt. Another clinch, Sy pressing this time. Competing for position. Back waist lock for MacDonald. Two minutes inside. Knees to the body. Sy makes a trip to half guard with two minutes left.
MacDonald fights his way up, puts him on the fence, and then knees Sy into the trash again. No point deduction yet. Kick to the body of Sy, who avoids a front kick. He tries to shoot, they put him on the fence, he breaks away. Kicks to Sy’s head and body, then a quick punch as they get tied up. One minute to go. MacDonald tries to throw over the exit. Sy’s low kick and a quick jab after missing a head kick. Knee to MacDonald’s body in return. Sy wraps things up with a couple of body kicks. Thus ends the most hostile performance for fans of MacDonald’s career. 10-9 Sy.
End result: Sy def. MacDonald by unanimous decision
170 pounds: Brett Cooper vs. Ray Cooper III
Round One: Cooper III comes out pounding and absolutely starts to tee off on the fence. Cooper tries to hit back, but Cooper III doubles him down with knees and body shots before polishing him off.
End result: Cooper III right. Cooper by TKO (knee and punches)
170 pounds: Magomed Magomedkerimov vs. Dilano Taylor
Round one: quick hit from Taylor. Magomedkerimov comes in with a combo and lands a left hook. One minute inside. Both men sat out of attack range. Brief collision, no knockdown. Quick exchange downtown. Magomedkerimov attempts a head kick, eats a low kick. Slow paced first round. Body shot in clinch, can’t land right off. Two minutes to go.
Flying kick attempt catches Taylor in the groin, but he decides to continue. Nice surprise takedown from Magomedkerimov. Standing over Taylor near the cage, he sits on guard. Solid foot strikes from Magomedkerimov give Taylor a chance to climb but he is thrown back into the guard. 10-9 Magomedkerimov.
Round Two: Low kick lands for Magomedkerimov. Taylor high-low 1-2s. Magomedkerimov’s heavy counterattack to the right responds to a low shot in the minute. The long 1-2 falls short. Two minute sin. Back to touch combat. Taylor attempts another bare low kick and Magomedkerimov lands the same counter to great effect. Taylor nearly hits the mat, but manages to get back on her feet. Two minutes to go.
Another great right hand from Magomedkerimov. The flying knee misses, but another big right hand lands clean. Taylor is on his feet and the referee steps in for a standing TKO.
End result: Magomedkerimov def. Taylor by TKO (punches)
155 pounds: Larissa Pacheco vs. Genah Fabian
Round one: Pacheco advances early. He trips Fabian with an inside low kick, then rocks it with a hard combo that forces Fabian to fire. Pacheco denies it, moves into a rear body lock, then takes her down and mounts her against the fence. The triangle of her arm is there for her and she wraps it around. She can’t move to side control because of the cage and Fabian is resisting it. Caught in mid guard, still squeezing. He remounts and she lets him go in favor of shooting with punches until the referee intervenes.
End result: Pacheco def. Fabian by TKO (punches)
170 pounds: Jarrah Al-Silawi vs. Magomed Umalatov
Round one: Tentative start. A minute later, no strikes were thrown. Umalatov hits in the clinch against the fence. Separation. Low kicks from Al-Silawi. Two minutes. Ref wants action, the crowd is getting angry. Umalatov medium low kick. Decent knee clinch. Al-Silawi returns with a jab. Two minutes to go.
Umalatov looks for a 1-2-3. Al-Silawi catches one of his kicks, but Umalatov hits him with a back short fist that short-circuits him. Umalatov chases after him and knocks him unconscious in a sudden end to a deadly dull fight.
End result: Umalatov def. Al-Silawi by KO (punches)
