Cruz Beckham appeared to mock Jaden Smith in a new Instagram post after sitting next to him at Paris Fashion Week on Sunday afternoon.

David and Victoria’s son, 17, stood alongside Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s son Jaden, 23, during the Kenzo Menswear S/S 2023 show.

However, the next day, Cruz seemed to point to something Jaden had previously said about “not connecting with people his age.”

Beneath a photo of his 19-year-old brother Romeo with the caption “What was he saying?” Cruz wrote: “You were talking about the political and economic state of the world.”

Cruz’s comment references a viral statement Jaden made earlier this year about how he was “happy that he spent more time with adults than kids when he was a kid.”

Speaking on BigBoyTV, he said: “I was learning more things from adults than from [sic] of kids my age,’ the 23-year-old explained on BigBoyTV earlier this month.

Romeo was clearly amused by his brother’s prank and commented below with a smiley face emoji.

Jaden’s interview sparked a series of derisive posts on Twitter, as trolls mocked his desire for a more noble conversation.

One user posted photos of Travis Scott anxiously rubbing his forehead and wrote, “Jaden Smith seeing kids going to birthday parties instead of talking about politics and the economic state of the world.”

The musician shared that he and his sister Willow filmed parodies of their mother’s The Matrix series when they were younger.

“I thought everyone’s parents made movies and I thought everyone made movies with their kids too,” he admitted.

Although Will and Jada didn’t put their own expectations on Jaden, they made sure he understood that other people might expect him to achieve as much as they did.

“We were made aware of it even before we knew from other people that there was this expectation of us. They said, “Hello people from the outside world, you’re going to say this and you’re going to say that you have to live up to our expectations of what we’ve done and what we’ve accomplished in our lives and you guys have to live with that,” he remembered. “So we knew that when we were young.”

That dose of realism, mixed with encouragement from his parents, helped instill confidence in Jaden.
