Ioan Gruffudd successfully obtained a three-year restraining order against his ex-wife Alice Evans, which also prohibits her from mentioning him on social media.
The Welsh actor, 48, hopes the new restrictions will put an end to public bickering between the couple, whose acrimonious split in March 2021 and ensuing clashes threatened to overshadow their respective careers.
Ioan had previously won a temporary restraining order against Alice, 54, the mother of his two daughters Ella, 12, and Elsie, eight, in February, claiming he was inundated with messages and verbal threats from her.

But on Tuesday, a US judge confirmed that tougher restrictions had been put in place, including a ruling that prevents Alice from leaking her children’s private text messages.
A source said: “Ioan had no choice but to escalate his legal fight over Alice.
“She had become increasingly volatile and seemingly determined to destroy his career with her character assassination. She hopes this will put an end to it.
Ioan was present inside the Los Angeles courthouse to witness the domestic violence restraining order granted, but Alice did not appear.
In new court documents, Ioan claimed that Alice continued to cause him problems and wanted additional provisions added to the existing restraining order.

He demanded that Alice not post to any social media account, “including but not limited to Instagram and Twitter accounts, disparaging or harassing.” [Ioan] or the other protected person.’
The other person appears as Ioan’s new girlfriend, Bianca Wallace, whom he began dating shortly after their split.
In addition, he asked Alice not to post her text messages or any other communication with the parties’ children, or the children’s text messages or any other communication with Ioan, on any social media account.
He also asked the judge to order Alice not to contact his employer or make derogatory statements about him to his employers.
Later in the court papers, Ioan said that since the restraining order was issued, Alice “has used her social media accounts to continue to harass, threaten and disturb the peace of both myself and my girlfriend, Bianca Wallace.”

Last month, The Vampire Diaries actress Alice shared a screenshot that appeared to be between Ioan and one of her daughters, who is believed to be asking her to sign documents so she can stay at her school, amid allegations that he stopped paying his fees.
Alice told her 86,000 Instagram followers: ‘You see, I have no money.
“I gave up my career because I wanted the love of my life to have an amazing career and that leaves him out most of the time.
‘I gritted my teeth and got over it. I missed working, oh hell I missed working, but I didn’t want a day to go by without seeing my two amazing girls. So hers was a plus.
Referring to Ioan’s alleged spending habits, he continued: ‘He is STILL trying to ruin my name, completing one request after another… dare you say I’m the ‘bad father’?
‘(Watch his interview with The Guardian from 2020. Ask my kids. Like anyone who knows us. Being called a “bad parent” when I gave up everything for them and don’t sleep at night just in case and worry about how to feed them. , check their health, take them to the dentist…. [sic].
“Those of you who might think ‘well why is she STILL posting on Instagram when her lawyers are going to bring her down for it?’ But think about it.
He’s spending money that should have gone to girls’ education, sports, college, on using a lawyer to gag me.
“I don’t have this money and I don’t believe in TRO corruption to shut someone up when they’re trying to say their piece,” he wrote. HE gets to say it. HE goes so far as to lie about me being a bad father (you couldn’t be further from the truth).
‘But I? They threaten me with fines, with prison if I tell MY TRUTH about what is really happening. And all I have is social media because I can’t afford a lawyer. Isn’t that a microcosm of rich and poor America? I’ll probably go to court for posting this. (Another example of the way he treats his children).’
Statement: Ioan went public with his girlfriend, actress Bianca Wallace, in October last year and was captioned: “Thank you for making me smile again.”
Alice added: ‘He may well be commended for doing the right thing. To go through the courts. He may take my kids away from me (good luck with that guy)’.
The month before in June, Alice claimed she was “completely out of money for food and bills” while sharing a video of her daughter Elsie.
She wrote: ‘Trying to keep it all together as I was threatened completely out of money for food and bills and found out someone tried to break down our outside door last night!
“But it’s all worth it for this (and whoever doesn’t want to be photographed).
Ioan and Alice met on the set of 102 Dalmatians in 2000 and married seven years later.
The Welsh actor filed for divorce in March 2021 citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split.
The document, which was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on March 1, revealed that the former couple split on New Year’s Day, a month before they made their relationship status public.
Ioan went Instagram official with his new girlfriend Bianca last October with a post that read, “Thank you for making me smile again.”
Alice reacted furiously, ranting: ‘So it turns out that my husband, after two years of telling me that I’m a bad person and that I’m not exciting and he doesn’t want to have sex with me anymore.’ . . he’s been in a relationship for three years behind my back.’
Happier times: Evans and Gruffudd met on the set of 102 Dalmatians in 2000, when the actress was in a relationship with Pablo Picasso’s grandson Olivier (pictured in 2001)
