5 Talk Show Hosts Celebrities Supposedly Want To Avoid And 4 Hosts They’re A Joy To Be With

Only Cher would insult David Letterman to his face.

Talk shows are a cornerstone of the entertainment industry, though some hosts’ relationships with their guests are better than others’.

Here are some examples of some talk show hosts who have a perfect relationship with some celebrities and others whose relationship has been difficult to put it lightly.

1.

PERFECT: Harry Styles is a frequent visitor to The Late Late Show with James Corden and even intervened host the show when Corden had to miss shows due to the birth of his son. The two have known each other since Styles was 17 after Johannah Deakin, mother of Styles’ One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson, reportedly she asked Corden to look after the children after they moved to London.

ROCKY: David Letterman paid $28,000 for Cher to appear on his show after she had previously turned him down four times. In 2017, Cher said that she had just racked up a $28,000 hotel bill when Letterman’s producers called her asking her to appear on the show in 1986. Cher agreed, on the condition that the show pay the hotel bill. She also explained her earlier reluctance to appear on the show, citing Letterman’s behavior, saying, “He’s very smart and funny, but he can be so mean if he doesn’t like people.” Letterman actually pressed Cher about her previous refusals to appear on the show, and she was open with him, saying that she didn’t want to because he was a jerk.

PERFECT: While Bradley Cooper has appeared on Tonight’s Show Starring Jimmy Fallon several times, there was one appearance where the duo’s laughter literally turned infectious. In 2014, Cooper appeared on the show to discuss his Broadway career in the lead role as The Elephant Man. But after donning fake wigs before trying to discuss the more serious nature of the play, Cooper and Fallon couldn’t seem to finish. the conversation without bursting into laughter.

But Bradley returned to the show in 2018 to talk about his movie, A star has been born. Midway through the interview, Cooper begins to tell a story that he says he knows he doesn’t have time to tell, as the show’s runtime approaches a commercial break. Fallon replies, “There are no rules, man. We love you, man.” As Cooper tells the story, he and Fallon laugh again, and Cooper yells, “Here we go again!” referring to his previous appearance on the show. Laughing, he says, “That’s how it was last time!”

ROCKY: In 2008, then-Republican candidate John McCain was going to appear on the Late Show with David Letterman but cancelled just 90 minutes before the show began, citing the need to get to the airport and back to Washington DC as quickly as possible to help with the expanding financial crisis. However, Letterman’s producers actually found out midway through the show that McCain wasn’t actually heading to the airport but was preparing for a different interview with Katie Couric.

Letterman proceeded to mock McCain for the snub during the show, and for three more weeks until McCain Returned to Letterman for a proper interview and to apologize to Letterman, saying, “I was wrong.”

PERFECT: As a host of hot, it’s Sean Evans’ job to keep his guests on their toes with their questions. However, in addition to most of the guests being absolutely obliterated by the hot wings, they’re also incredibly impressed with Evans’ questions. Here it is a few sweet moments:

ROCKY: While tonight show host Johnny Carson and actor Bob Hope occasionally shared a network, apparently that’s where the similarities ended. tonight show producer Peter Lassally said, “Johnny admired Hope’s place in show business…but wasn’t a huge fan of her work.” Lassally also said that Carson resented the freedom Hope exercised in appearing on the show, saying, “We’d get an application and Johnny would say, ‘Again?’ And I was like, ‘Do you want to say no?’ And he was like, ‘No. You can’t turn down Bob Hope.'”

Carson apparently disliked not only Hope’s work, but also her ability as a guest, with Carson’s former co-author, Andrew Nicholls, saying, ‘There was nothing spontaneous about Hope. … he was a guy who trusted the writers of him for every issue.”

PERFECT: While the pair obviously became friends while working together on saturday night liveSeth Meyers was actually an integral part of John Mulaney’s journey to sobriety, as he, along with a few other friends, staged an intervention for Mulaney in 2019. Mulaney, now sober, has returned to Late night with Seth Meyers to discuss the incident. He recalled: “So you (Seth) were the first person I saw when I walked through the door where I knew it was an intervention.” At the end of the interview, Mulaney thanked Meyers for his part in helping him get sober.

ROCKY: Apparently, musician Liam Gallagher and James Corden didn’t even get a chance to meet before Gallagher made his displeasure known. In a 2017 interview with GQ, Gallagher was I ask if he ever performed in Carpool Karaoke, a famous piece in the late show, to which Gallagher replied, “No, thank you very much… No chance, mate.” Gallagher later called Corden a “fat guy” and added, “James Corden is an asshole.”

However, Gallagher later appeared in the late show later that year and I actually got a chance to meet Corden. Gallagher later retracted his comments in a tweet.

ROCKY: The interview was heard around the world. While Ellen DeGeneres has been known to annoy her guests, 50 shades of gray star Dakota Johnson was having Nothing of that after DeGeneres said she had not previously been invited to Johnson’s birthday party. Johnson denied this and said that DeGeneres had actually been invited, and pressed Ellen to ask her producers about her, who confirmed that she had received an invitation, but that she was out of town.
